Hi to everyone!
My name is Tim Estrada, a 2nd yr student of UP Diliman and current member of the Int'l Club of UP.
I was surfing the net one time when i decided to search the word ICUP in google and then i stumbled upon this site,
tribe.net and decided to join in your group.
First of all I would like to inform everyone that today, ICUP is in its what we call a "reviving stage" since it almost died a few years ago due to several factors but mostly because of the loss of important documents(i.e. past activities, alumni directory), and the lack of funds and manpower in the org itself during those "dying" years. It was unsure when did these things happen, but these events added up to downfall of the org. If you were to roam around UP Diliman today, you'll be lucky to find 3 out of 10 people that knows about the existence of ICUP.
However, as we have strengthen our number of members just last semester, from 10 to 40 and "discovered" contacts with the alumni of the 60's, we are now in the process of making it back as an established and a formidable org as it was before. And in this light, we are eagerly looking and re-establishing ties with the former members who, at once in their lives, became part, and loved this organization.
Also, if i may ask, from what batch did you belong during your stay in ICUP? And by the way, i would just like to announce the ICUP reunion in Victoria, Canada, from July 3 to 5, 2007, the said details are of as follows:
"The first reunion of the International Club of U.P. will be held near
Victoria, British Columbia's capital and garden city, from July 3 to 5,
2007.
The Blackfish Lodge, near Sooke on Vancouver Island's west coast and about
an hour drive from Victoria, will be the venue for the reunion with all the
attendees staying two nights together at the lodge that overlooks the Juan
de Fuca Strait.
The Diliman campus organization was established on October 24, 1956, and was
the recipient of the Vinzons Achievement Award as "Most Outstanding
Organization" in 1963 and with "honourable mention" in 1964 and 1966.
ICUP observed its 50th anniversary recently.
Former and present ICUP are being urged to attend this first reunion."
if you have any more questions, feel free to send it to me here or at tadsz223@gmail.com.
we also have a yahoogroups account, theicup@yahoogroups.com(used by current members and several alumni)
and a google group, www.groups.google.com/group/int...of-up(used by alumni and several current members=D) w/c is used
for the said reunion.
Looking forward in rekindling ties with all of you in the spirit of friendship and cultural exchange.
Thank you and Good day!
Tim Estrada
